Service Ethics Framework
RosesAreDark welcomes individuals of all ages who genuinely seek spiritual guidance, provided such engagement is appropriate and conducted responsibly. We frequently work with individuals under the age of 21. In many instances, these individuals have been referred by, or attend with the knowledge and consent of, a parent or legal guardian who supports their decision to seek spiritual guidance.
Accordingly, any individual under the age of 21 is required to obtain the consent of a parent or legal guardian before engaging any of our services, whether for consultations, readings, rituals, mentorship, or participation in initiatory activities.
Where appropriate, RosesAreDark reserves the right to request a conversation with the parent or legal guardian to verify consent, answer questions, and ensure that they understand the nature of the services being provided.
Where parental or guardian consent cannot be reasonably established, or where we believe that proceeding would not be in the best interests of the young person, we reserve the right to decline or postpone the engagement. This policy exists to safeguard young clients, respect the role of parents and legal guardians, and ensure that all spiritual services are undertaken with transparency, informed consent, and responsible ethical practice.
As with all clients, participation remains voluntary, and RosesAreDark reserves the right to decline services where we believe that the requested engagement falls outside the scope of our professional or ethical standards.
RosesAreDark reserves the right to decline participation in live Zoom guided meditative rituals for individuals who are currently undergoing certain psychiatric treatment, are enrolled in intensive mental health programmes, or are taking psychiatric medication where, in our professional judgment, participation may not be appropriate.
This is a safeguarding measure, not a restriction on who may seek spirituality. Many of our participative rituals involve prolonged meditation, altered states of consciousness, deep visualisation, emotional processing, and intensive spiritual experiences. While beneficial for many, these may not suit every individual, particularly those whose participation could interfere with ongoing mental health treatment.
As spiritual practitioners (not medical professionals), we do not assess medical fitness. Where we believe participation may present unnecessary risk, we reserve the right to decline or postpone, or to discuss alternative non-meditative services.
You must disclose psychiatric treatment, assessment, or medication before booking. Failure to disclose may result in refusal of service or immediate removal from the session without refund.
Confidentiality is fundamental to our practice. However, it has limits.
Exception to Confidentiality: Confidentiality may be limited where RosesAreDark reasonably believes there is an imminent risk of serious harm to the client or another person. In such circumstances, information may be disclosed to emergency services or other appropriate authorities where reasonably necessary and in accordance with applicable law.
This exception reflects our core principle: preserving life takes precedence over all other commitments. For full details, see the Operational Ethics & Boundaries document.
